At present, the company's total investment in projects under construction is 883.2 billion yuan, of which 110 kV and above power grids andPumped storage power station3299 items. "Major projects have the characteristics of large investment scale, long industrial chain and many employees. They can effectively drive the development of upstream and downstream enterprises such as power supply, electrical equipment, and raw materials, and will play an important driving role in stabilizing growth, adjusting structure, and benefiting people's livelihood." Yu Bing, deputy director of the National Energy Administration and member of the Party Leadership Group, said.

Taking the two ultra-high voltage lines started this spring as an example, the project involves hundreds of equipment manufacturing, construction, installation, and scientific research institutions, and many equipment manufacturers including China Xidian and Baobian Electric have obtained orders from them.

The start of Anhua Pumped Storage Power Station, the largest pumped storage power station in central China, was evaluated by the Hunan Provincial Government as an "important measure to empower the future and provide strong support for development." While driving more than 30 billion yuan of social investment, the project will provide about 8,000 jobs for local people, especially migrant workers and people who have been lifted out of poverty, further activate the "power source" for people to increase their employment and income.

Regarding economic work in the second half of the year, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee recently held a meeting and proposed to "consolidate the positive trend of economic recovery, focus on stabilizing employment and prices, keeping the economy running within a reasonable range, and striving to achieve the best results."

The company plays the role of basic support, investment driving and service guarantee of the power grid, and completes an investment of nearly 300 billion yuan by the end of the year. By then, the company's total investment in projects under construction will reach 1.3 trillion yuan, driving upstream and downstream investment of the industrial chain to exceed 2.6 trillion yuan.

Ensure power supply and strong safety. 8 ultra-high voltage transmission projects are planned to be started

Ensuring the safe and reliable supply of electricity is the company's top priority. It is currently the critical period of peak summer in the "seven down eight" period. Affected by the rapid economic recovery and high temperature weather, the electricity load of many provincial power grids in the company's operating area has risen rapidly. The sufficient and stable supply of electricity cannot be separated from the strong support of cross-regional and cross-provincial transmission channels such as ultra-high voltage.

In Shandong, the Ximeng-Shandong 1,000 kV ultra-high voltage AC transmission and transformation project has been put into operation for six years, and has transported 130 billion kWh of electricity to Shandong, equivalent to one-sixth of the annual electricity consumption in Shandong Province.

In Sichuan, the Baihetan-Jiangsu ±800 kV UHV DC project, which was completed and put into production in advance, can transport more than 30 billion kWh of clean electricity to East China every year, which is equivalent to Nanjing's electricity consumption for half a year. Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, commented that the completion and commissioning of the project is timely and is of great significance to meeting electricity demand and helping people's livelihood.

Up to now, the company has built a total of 29 stable, safe and reliable ultra-high voltage transmission projects, with the furthest transmission distance of 3,300 kilometers. The State Grid has become the world's furthest transmission distance and the strongest energy resource allocation capability, which strongly supports the reliable supply of electricity.

The pace of ultra-high voltage construction is continuing to accelerate. During this year, the company plans to start construction of eight ultra-high voltage transmission projects, namely Jinshang-Hubei, Longdong-Shandong, Ningxia-Hunan, Hami-Chongqing DC, Wuhan-Nanchang, Zhangbei-Shengli, Sichuan-Chongqing Internet and Huangshi AC.

Guan Peng, deputy director of the Economic Operation Regulation Bureau of the National Development and Reform Commission, believes that the State Grid's full efforts to promote the construction of major projects is an important measure to optimize the allocation of electricity resources, improve the safety and supply capacity of energy and electricity, expand effective investment demand, and consolidate the foundation of economic recovery.

In the next few years, my country's electricity demand will continue to grow steadily, and the electricity consumption of the whole society will reach 9.5 trillion kilowatt-hours by 2025. In this regard, the company will also accelerate the preliminary work of six ultra-high voltage projects including Datong-Tianjin South Exchange and Shaanxi-Anhui DC, further optimize and improve the grid structure, ensure the safe and reliable supply of electricity, and promote the development of the power grid to always be in line with economic and social development.

"We must accelerate the construction of major projects, vigorously improve the energy resource allocation capacity, and increase the cross-regional and cross-provincial transmission capacity from the current 240 million kilowatts to more than 370 million kilowatts by 2030." A relevant person in charge of the State Grid Development Department said.

Promote transformation and help "dual carbon" pumped storage development usher in an important period of opportunity

Developing new energy is a key move to promote the transformation of clean and low-carbon energy, and it is also a long-term solution to strengthen the energy rice bowl and achieve the "dual carbon" goal.

As of the end of 2021, the company's new energy installed capacity in its operating area reached 540 million kilowatts, and the new energy utilization rate reached 97.4%, making it the largest power grid with the world's new energy grid-connected installation scale. Continuously improving the power system regulation capabilities is a major focus of the company's service to the safe and reliable development of new energy in recent years.

As a "stabilizer" and "regulator" of the power system, pumped storage power stations play an important role in flexible response to power grid demand and promoting the consumption of new energy. Take the Jilin Dunhua Pumped Storage Power Station, which was fully put into production in April this year as an example. The power station can promote the consumption of clean energy by more than 5 billion kilowatt-hours each year, save 450,000 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 870,000 tons.

In the process of helping the country achieve the "dual carbon" goal, the development of pumped storage is ushering in an important period of opportunity. In September last year, the National Energy Administration issued the "Medium- and Long-term Development Plan for Pumped Storage (2021-2035)", proposing that by 2025, the total scale of pumped storage will reach more than 62 million kilowatts; by 2030, the total scale of production will reach about 120 million kilowatts.

As of the end of 2021, the scale of pumped storage power stations in the State Grid business area reached 26.31 million kilowatts and 46.43 million kilowatts respectively.

From a long-term perspective, the company will continue to increase the construction of pumped storage power stations in the next few years, and strive to achieve the development goal of 100 million kilowatts of pumped storage installed capacity in the operating area by 2030, further improve the system adjustment capacity, and accelerate the transformation of clean and low-carbon energy.

The construction of major projects is beneficial to both the present and the long-term.
