At 12:23 on January 8, the new energy generating capacity of Inner Mongolia Power Grid hit a new record high, reaching 38.51 gigawatts, accounting for 76% of the total grid load at that moment. This means that 3 out of every 4 kilowatt-hours of electricity came from new energy sources. Following the previous new energy output peak of 35.89 gigawatts on January 6 this year, this marks another significant breakthrough in new energy generating capacity in a short period. Backed by the robust green power supply of Inner Mongolia Power Grid, the maximum new energy generating capacity of North China Power Grid reached 184.56 gigawatts on the same day, also setting a new historical high.
Notably, when the new energy output hit the record high, the charging capacity of the grid’s new-type energy storage system reached 9.51 gigawatts, providing a strong guarantee for the high-proportion consumption of new energy. Large-scale centralized commissioning of new-type energy storage facilities took place at the end of 2025. Up to now, the commissioned installed capacity of new-type energy storage has reached 13.67 gigawatts, an increase of nearly 10 gigawatts year-on-year, among which the installed capacity of independent new-type energy storage has reached 10.20 gigawatts. The utilization quality and efficiency of new-type energy storage have been steadily improved, with the charging capacity hitting a new record high of 9.63 gigawatts on January 4. Functioning as a reliable “power bank”, new-type energy storage provides solid support for Inner Mongolia Power Grid to achieve green and low-carbon transformation and build a new power system.
Inner Mongolia Power Dispatching Control Company will focus on the goal of building a new power system, accelerate the construction of a new power dispatching system characterized by flexible and coordinated grid-source operation, proactive and reliable security defense, optimized resource allocation through the market, and strong empowerment by digital and intelligent technologies. It will fully tap the grid's flexible regulation potential, actively promote the in-depth application of energy storage and the innovation of market mechanisms, ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid and the efficient consumption of new energy, facilitate the steady transformation of new energy from a “major growth sector” to a “mainstay of power supply”, and contribute key strength to the clean and low-carbon energy transition of the autonomous region.
